Privacy policy
What this site collects, what it does not, and what happens to the letters you type.
01 What happens to the letters you type
They stay on your device. The word list is downloaded to your browser and every query is solved there. We do not receive the letters you type, so there is nothing for us to store, log or share.
One exception, and it is visible: if you submit the form with JavaScript
disabled, your letters travel in the address as ?q=… so the
server can send you to the matching page. That request appears in ordinary
web server logs, which we keep for a short period for security and
diagnostics.
02 Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see which pages are used and which are not. It records things like the page you viewed, your approximate location from your IP address, your device type and referrer. We use it to decide what to build next, not to identify anyone.
We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles, and we do not combine it with any other source of data about you.
03 Advertising
This site is free and is intended to be paid for by advertising eventually. There are no ads on it today — no network, no ad scripts, nothing loaded from an advertiser. When that changes we will name the network here and say what it collects before it starts collecting anything.
04 What we store on your device
We keep two things in your browser, and neither leaves it:
- Your theme choice — light or dark — so the site does not reset every visit.
- The cached word list, held by your browser's normal file cache so the tool loads instantly next time.
Clearing your browser's site data removes both. Neither is a tracking cookie and neither identifies you.
05 Your choices
There is no account to delete and no profile to export, because we do not build one. For the analytics data described above you can:
- Use your browser's "do not track" or an ad blocker — we do not work around either.
- Install Google's analytics opt-out, which stops the measurement at source.
- Email us to ask what we hold about a particular visit.
06 Contacting us
Email hello@word-unscramble.com. If something in this policy does not match what the site does, that is a bug and we want to hear about it. word-unscramble.com is an independent site, not affiliated with any word game or its publisher.
Still stuck on a puzzle? The fastest answer is usually the tool itself — unscramble your letters and read down from the longest words.
